Cello
Many song writers or producers realise they need want something more in their songs. Adding cello parts can add that layer of depth and beauty to the sound that you had been looking. Ian can write his own Cello parts to your song, following your brief and instruction. He can also offer you completely new ideas about what might suit your music; if you are unsure of how you might best utilize some strings. He is also of course very happy to play exact parts written by you or another composer/arranger - whether that’s in the form of traditional sheet music or any alternative forms of notation. Ian has a studio in his home from which he is able to record and arrange parts for you. He is also very happy to travel to the studio you’re working at and work with you/your producer in person.

Along with the Cello I have extensive experience playing, writing, and recording parts on these other instruments. I have played and recorded extensively across many different genres as a bassist and vocalist - from blues to punk, and doom to britpop. I have particularly enjoyed working with the mandola family of instruments, and others, in genres like folk, blues, trad, and psych.
